In 1949, Elisha Converse donated the funds to open the Cancer Center in memory of his wife, Lillian. Mrs. Converse, who died of cancer, had wished to provide a local resource to help others who had cancer.

Evans S. Pillsbury Society

Mr. Pillsbury led the Cancer Center for many years through several significant changes, including the move to our present facility. He is remembered for his generosity and untiring efforts.

C.P. Dubbs Club

Mr. C.P. Dubbs was the creator and benefactor of the Center Associates in 1954. He planted a seed for the future with his vision of an "organization of friends of the institution".

Dr. Henry J. Ullmann Club

Dr. Ullmann was the first Medical Director of the Cancer Center, responsible for bringing a one million volt x-ray machine to Santa Barbara to treat cancer patients locally.
